About Us

NASSCOM Foundation launched the Disability Inclusion Initiative in 2010. The Initiative is structured to advocate economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities through inclusion in workplace in the IT-BPM industry. Working in close collaboration with NASSCOM Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, the key objectives of the program are:

  • • Economic empowerment of persons with disabilities through employment in the IT-BPM Industry
  • • Facilitating adoption of inclusion principles by the industry.
  • • Physical and web accessibility at workplace in the industry.

The team set out with a goal to sensitize and help industry leaders and organizations see a business case in hiring persons with disabilities as an alternate talent pool. During the course of our action, we realized that a lot of the work in the sector is in isolation; demanding aggregation; a single platform for stakeholders to meet, interact and forge effective collaborations. While there are many NGOs working in skilling and placing persons with disabilities, there is a lack of a platform where active discussions can take place between the companies and service providers viz. NGOs, inclusion practitioners, consultants etc. There is a lack of an information repository where knowledge materials can be perused and synergies explored. The ‘Inclusion Powered’ portal is envisaged to play this role. The objective of the portal is to facilitate dialogues that would impact how companies, consultants, and NGOs foresee the space of disability inclusion with respect to skilling persons with disabilities, formulating policies and strategies for disability management, and assistive technology.
